LSU guard Adam Miller will miss the entirety of the 2021-22 college basketball season due to a torn ACL, as first reported by Jordy Culotta.
Miller took to Twitter with a somewhat vague tweet on Wednesday hinting at an injury, and an hour later Culotta reported the extent of the damage.
A sophomore, Miller figured to play a large role for the Tigers this upcoming season after head coach Will Wade lost his top three scorers from this past season. The trio of Cameron Thomas, Trendon Watford and Javonte Smart all moved on from the program and declared for the NBA Draft this past April. The three poured in an average of 55.3 points each game.
Predictive analytics service Barttorvik ranked LSU as the No. 48 team in the country before the season starts. They projected the six-foot-three sophomore would score the second most points on the team this upcoming season at 13.4 each contest.
Miller was one of four transfers to join the program, taking advantage of the newly implemented one-time transfer rule and entering the transfer portal from Illinois. Wade took advantage of the portal by adding former Cincinnati forward Tari Eason, San José State guard Seneca Knight and Missouri guard Xavier Pinson.
The Peoria, IL native chose to stay in-state for his collegiate career by committing to the Fighting Illini during his senior year at Morgan Park High School in November of 2019. Miller was listed as the No. 33 player in his high school class and a four-star prospect on 247Sports Composite.
During Miller’s true freshman season under Brad Underwood, he posted an average of 8.3 points on 7.4 field goals per game. Starting in each of the 31 games he appeared in, Miller shot 39.1% from the field.
LSU men’s basketball team will play in their first and only exhibition game prior to the official start of the season against Nicholls on Oct. 23 at 1 P.M. Eastern. The first game to count against their season record will take place at home against Lousiana-Monroe on Nov. 9 at 7 P.M., with the start of their SEC schedule kicking off on the road against Auburn on Dec. 29 at 6 P.M.
